Thepla - A Dish that all Gujarati swear by!

No Gujarati trip, picnic, overseas trip, or even business trip is complete without this ubiquitous snack. Made from gram flour, whole wheat flour, fresh fenugreek leaves, and spices, these flatbreads are healthy snack options with a long daily life. They are generally served hot with fresh curd, pickles or chundo, they make healthy meals.

Methi Thepla, you should try the lightly flavored paratha like the traditional Gujarati flatbread recipe made from wheat flour, fenugreek leaves, and other spices. The dishes are an integral part of Gujarati meals and are cooked for regular meals and travel.


Ingredients for Gujarati Thepla

2 cup chopped Fenugreek Leaves (Methi)
3 cup Wheat Flour
3 tbsp Curd
1 & 1/2 tbsp Green Chilli & Garlic Paste
1 tbsp Sesame Seeds (Til)
2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
1 tsp Kashmiri Chilli Powder
1 tsp Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
1/2 tsp Garam Masala
Oil
Salt to taste

How to Make Methi Thepla

Take a large bowl and add wheat flour to it.
Add the chopped methi leaves (fenugreek leaves), green pepper and garlic paste, sesame seeds.
Add all Masalas: Red Pepper Powder, Kashmir Pepper Powder, Ajwain (Carambola Seeds), Garam Masala, Turmeric Powder.
Add the curd, salt, and 2 tablespoons. Oil soup
Mix well all the ingredients.
Add water as needed and knead the dough soft for Thepla
Now add ½ teaspoon of oil and knead again, cover with a lid and set aside for 15 minutes.
Make medium balls from the dough.
Sprinkle a little flour in a ball and with the rolling pin the Thepla begins to roll.
Place the Thepla on the hot Tawa.
Turn over when partially cooked on one side.
Spread the oil on one side and turn again.
Now spread the oil on the other side and rotate Thepla again.
Turn a few times and cook until you get golden spots on both sides.
You can also press Thepla with a spatula while cooking.
Store it in the Roti basket or serve hot with garlic chutney, chhunda (mango pickle), or sour milk.
